How to file a tax extension form?

Filing a tax extension form is a quick process:

1) Create a quick draft of your tax return and estimate how much taxes you owe.

2) Download Form 4868 (tax extension form) and fill it out

3) Mail your form to IRS attaching a check for the amount of estimated taxes you owe.

4) If you don’t make it to the post office in time to mail your Form 4868, you can file your extension online. Just make sure you e-file your extension before midnight.
